In case you haven’t already heard, Serena Williams recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Alexis Olympia. The world-famous athlete introduced her newborn girl on Instagram through a series of photographs and videos on her “story.”
“So we’re leaving the hospital after six, seven days,” Williams shared in one of her clips.
“It’s been a long time, but we had a lot of complications, but look who we got — we got a baby girl!”
Williams and her fiance, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, became parents on September 1 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Baby Alexis Olympia came into the world weighing 6 pounds and 13 ounces.
Ohanian posted a photo on his own Instagram account commemorating the special day and sharing a link to a video he made of their pregnancy journey.
Williams and Ohanian chose to keep the baby’s sex a suprise but both felt that they would be having a little girl. In Vogue’s September issue, Williams shared her thoughts saying, “I have a strong suspicion that it’s a girl.”
Ohanian said in a talk show appearance, “[Serena] won the Australian Open while pregnant, and she remarked that she feels like it has to be a girl because everything that that baby went through and handled like a champ, only a woman could be strong enough to take on.”
