New England Patriots – 12.5 Wins
We all know that the Patriots are great, and the Vegas odds bear that fact out. Frankly, it would be no surprise if the Patriots had at least 13 wins, so the wise betting is probably on the over. Whether it’s in Vegas or on the field, it’s always wisest to never bet against Belichick. Even if half the team gets injured, he always seems to find a way to win. Plus, the Patriots have added Brandin Cooks to their already stacked offense, so there’s no reason why they won’t be even better this year.
Pittsburgh Steelers – 10.5 Wins
Big Ben is getting older, but as long as Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell are on the team, the Steelers will be one of the top teams in the league. This Vegas line is probably a bit optimistic though, since it’s unlikely that the team will stay healthy. If they do, they’ll easily hit this projection, but over the last few seasons, this just hasn’t happened.
In the fourth round of the draft, Pittsburgh took Joshua Dobbs, a quarterback from Tennessee. Dobbs has a big arm and he should be able to benefit from sitting behind Big Ben for a year or two. If Ben happens to get injured again, Dobbs should also be a better backup than Landry Jones.
