Pittsburgh already leads Nashville 1-0 in the series, but there is a lot of hockey yet to be played. The upstart Predators have shocked the world by storming through the western conference, and making it all the way to the Stanley Cup. However, the Penguins were able to squeeze by in the first game. There’s very little chance that they will be able to play that badly and win again. On the other side of the equation, it’s very likely that Nashville won’t be able to continue the run that they’ve been on. At some point they’ll have to come back to earth.
All of that being said, let’s take a look at some of the key factors in the series. First of all, if Nashville wants to have a chance, they must contain Sidney Crosby. The Penguins’ captain is the best player in the game, and his offensive prowess is legendary. It’s a tall order to shut him down, but it is a must.
On the other side, Nashville has some of the most talented defensemen in the league. Sure, they have to worry about Crosby, but Pittsburgh is going to have to worry about stopping them as well. P.K. Subban has been a terror this year, and the Penguins will certainly have their hands full trying to contain him.
